With the spirit of Protestant faith and belief in pluralistic education, Wonju College of Medicine teaches and trains students in medical theory and application to prepare for medical service. The College sets its goal for graduating students to become medical professionals with strong character in line with the Protestant faith, who will work in primary medicine upon graduation, who will advance community medicine, and with superior research and leadership skills.
The Wonju College of Medicine is the primary medical institute in the Province of Kangwon, established after the merger between Yonsei University and Yonsei University College of Medicine. It opened in 1978 under the supervision of its parent hospital, Wonju Christian Hospital. Even with its short history, Wonju College of Medicine boasts outstanding programs in medical fields, such as its renowned six-year integrated undergraduate and graduate medical degree program, the first four-year nursing program in the Kangwon region, a four-year dental and hygiene program, and a special two-year nursing technology program.
Wonju College of Medicine hopes to become a leading research institute in medical technology in Korea, and to establish itself as a distinguished teaching institute and hospital that continually improves its curriculum, facilities, and machinery and equipment with the introduction of advanced education approaches, state-of-the-art equipment, and specialization.
