Admission Procedures

Patients must be referred by Gangnam Severance Hospital physician in order to obtain admission documents. Afterwards, an appointment for admission will be made with an International Healthcare Center staff.

* Prior to the admission day the following completed documents must be submitted to the Administration Department on the 8th floor of the Hospital's Building NO.1.

Please tell us about your inpatient room type - private, semi-private shared room

On Admission Day it is advisable that the patient bring the following items:

What to bring
  • Comb, shampoo, cosmetics, toothbrush/ toothpaste, slippers, cup, etc.
  • Your insurance cards and/or identification, if any.
  • Please note that all of these products can be purchased from Hospital Services for a small fee or are available at the 24 hours Convenience store.
What not to bring

Please do not bring any of the following items: any electrical appliances, jewelry, valuables, large amount of cash, or credit cards. Keep in mind that the hospital is not responsible for any lost or damaged personal items.

On your admission day, please visit the International Healthcare Center, then we will take you next to the 1st floor for the admission procedure. After the admission procedure, we will guide you to your room or medical department. In your ward, we will explain about your ward facilities such as the location of the emergency alarm, water purifier, how to use your bed and the direction to the nurse station.

For your safety
  • Always wear slippers with non-skid soles when walking around.
    - Do not hesitate to ask for help if you feel weak, dizzy, or lightheaded when you get up.
    - Use the call switch in the bathroom for help.
For your convenience
  • 24 hours Convenience store is on the B1 floor next to the entrance
  • Coffee shop : located on floor B1 of the building No.1 and 3rd floor of the building No.2.
  • Restaurant : located in B1 floor and open everyday from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
    In-patients are not allowed to enter inside the restaurant due to infection control purposes.
  • Pay phones : available on each floor.
  • Bank: Woori Bank is located on first floor of building NO.2.
  • ATM machine: located on first floor of building NO.1. and 2.
  • Prayer room : located on the 3rd floor in main building.
Medical Certificate

Ask the nurse if you need a medical record/doctor's note during your stay.

During Your Stay

When going outside of your room, please ask your nurse to lock the room and take any valuables with you. During your stay in the hospital, you may keep your money at Woori Bank after making an account.

Rounds by the hospital staff will be between 7a.m. and 10a.m.

Please raise the side-rails to an upright position to avoid any accidents or falls from your bed while sleeping.

Hospital is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the hospital.

Please follow the nurse’s instructions regarding use of the microwave, blinds, air conditioner, bed side-rails, and emergency call buttons (located by bed and in bathroom).

Each bed has its own phone line. To make a local telephone call, first press 9, then the number you would like to dial. To make a long distance or international call, press 0 for the operator who will assist you in making your call. (Outgoing phone calls are only possible in private and semi-private rooms)

Bed sheets and patient gowns are provided in the morning every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you wish to change your bed sheets or gown outside of these times, please inform your nurse. Dirty pajamas should be discarded in the white plastic bag located in the sanitation room.

In case of a fire, please follow evacuation instructions given by staff. First extinguishers and water hoses are located on each ward for emergency use.

Base room temperature is set at 25 degrees Celsius. To adjust temperature, please use the manual dial (turn right to increase temperature and left to decrease). Temperature should adjust and be displayed on the LCD screen in 10-20 minutes).

Please throw any medical wastes (used bandages, bloody tissues, etc.) in the designated container (square-shaped box with orange lining) located in your room.

Meal Services

A breakfast (07:30), lunch (12:30) and dinner (18:00) are provided to every patient who is not fasting. Western meals and other diets are available upon request.

After finishing your meal, please place the tray on the tray stand located in front of the nursing station.

Water is available at the water dispenser located near nursing stations and pantry area.

Consent Form

Prior to your surgery or inpatient treatment, your doctor will come to explain the procedure and have you sign a consent form.

 

Discharge Procedures

Patients must be confirmed by Gangnam Severance Hospital physician in order to be discharged from the hospital.

We will explain and help you with your discharge process including medication, your next plans, next appointment date and time , payment and etc.

When you need a receipt in English, please tell the International Healthcare staff and we will prepare it for you.

Parking
  • The first 30 minute is for 1,500 won (but within 15 minute is free) and after 30 minute, 500 won for every 10 minute.
  • Overnight parking from 12 AM to 6 AM is for 1,000 won.
  • Free parking is available on the days of admission and discharge for patients but it depends on outpatient or inpatient so contact International Healthcare Center.
  • On Sundays and holidays, in-patients can get a free parking.
