Hepatocellular Carcinoma Clinic is the clinic that provides multilateral diagnosis and treatment services under cooperation of experts in the Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Surgery, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Department of Radiation Oncology and Department of Pathology, through the single window of one stop system that was devised first in Korea (open in June of 2003).
Our clinic, starting to operate a hepatocellular carcinoma team first in Korea in 1995, has been chosen as the best team by the press. We are trying hard to provide medical services quickly and conveniently while maximizing the treatment effect of hepatocellular carcinoma based on the research outcome and clinical experience accumulated for years. Especially by using the Early Hepatocellular Carcinoma Diagnostic System, we offers selected checkups and customized treatment services by the respective patients belonging to the individual prediction model according to risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma.
Major Clinical Results
- Having attempted the medical treatment and hyperthermia therapy first in the world that uses lipiodol, which is I-131 radioisotope
- Publishing the hepatocellular carcinoma treatment and clinical result of using Holmium-166/chitosan complex (Milican) developed in Korea in 1998 on the Journal of American Association for Cancer Research (AARC), which is a prominent international science journal
- Providing optimal radiotherapy based on the intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and tomotherapy
- Patent application for the early prediction model of hepatocellular carcinoma by building a database from the government-supported research subject for the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma by developing hepatocellular carcinoma biomarker and applying it clinically
- We are consistently carrying out various research projects while maintaining close relationship with foreign research institutes by entering agreements for cooperative researches with prominent research institutes such as the Kurume University Liver Cancer Center and have accumulated the diagnosis and treatment results of treating and diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma that is the largest size of database in the world.
